Pack lightly!
As if assembling clothes and other school necessities weren’t hard enough, packing for an international college is all the more difficult, as luggage and other shipping costs add up quickly! Luckily, most items can be purchased after arrival, and perhaps they will even be cheaper.
Weather
Expect to experience all 4 seasons: Fall, Winter (extremely cold!), Spring (Chilly..brr), Summer (Hot!). So, it is important that students pack for many types of weather. Winter jackets can be very expensive in the USA, please consider bringing a good winter coat. We will have many shopping opportunities throughout the year, including orientation.
In the room, students will have desks, closets and a dresser. The Office of International Programs sells linen packets for only $25, which include bed sheets, pillow, bath towel, face towel and a wash cloth.

*Many students have trouble using cell phones from their home country when they arrive in the United States. However, students will have access to the internet while they are on campus, and students may want to have a planned way to communicate with family. For example, students can use Skype, wechat, and a variety of other free ways to communicate while in the United States.
*Books and academic resources. Books are heavy (which also means costly) in transport and easy to obtain via school or community bookstores, or through the Internet. Plus, you may not know what texts are needed for your courses until you arrive. We will review different affordable ways to purchase your texbooks during orientation. Many of you will not have a U.S. bank account, therefore, it is important that you bring between $150-$200 cash for the first few days. Please notify your banks that you will be traveling outside of your home country.
